BLH Chat & Spotlight with Author A.M. Myers

BLH Chatting with A.M. Myers   Q:What's next for you?  What are you currently working on? A:Right now, I’m finishing up the third book in the Hidden Scars series, Evading Fate, which releases on November 21st. And then after that I’m starting a new series that a spin off from the Hidden Scars books called The Bayou Devils MC series.   Q: How much of yourself do you write in a book?  Are any of the characters "you"? A:I think each one of my heroines has a little piece of me but the one most like me is Emma.   Q: How do you deal with overzealous fans (if you have them). A:I love them! Honestly when I get a message from a fan or they comment on my posts telling me how much they love my books, it keeps me going on days when I really feel like throwing in the towel.   Q: How do you balance work, writing and family/friends without burning out? A:I think it’s all about balance. I work during the day while keeping an eye on my kiddos and when my husband gets home, I’m done with work and spending time with them.   Q: Do you read your reviews if so how do handle the negative ones written? A:I do read them and most the time I try to just brush them off. It’s not always easy to do but I try. When I released my first book, I knew that not everyone was going to love it and that’s okay. But there have been a few that just made me laugh.   Q: Do you write full time ? A:I do.   Q: Where does the inspiration for your stories come from? A:All over the place. Movies, music, people I see on the street. And a lot comes from my own imagination.   Q:  What made you want to  become a writer? A:It’s always been the way that I best expressed myself and I wrote poetry as I was growing up but writing a book and becoming an author was something that seemed unattainable until I learned about self-publishing   Q:  What signings are you attending? A:I have a bunch of signing that I’m attending in 2017 that I’m super excited about. ARC NOLA in January, Authors in the City in March, Book Obsessed Babes Jacksonville in April, Submit and Devour in May, Readers and Writers Seattle in June, DirtyNSexy Atlanta in August and Readers and Writers Tampa in August.   Q:  All writers have some sort of ritual for when they write. What is your ritual? A:I actually don’t know that I do have a ritual. I usually just sit down, crank the music and start writing.   Q: How much truth or fantasy goes into your writing? Or Do you use your personal experience in your writing, or do you play on your fantasies? A:In Hidden Scars, Emma’s story was loosely based on something that I went through myself but for the most part these stories are a product of my imagination.   Q: When you interact with your fans and readers, how many ideas or how much inspiration do your get from them? A:I get tons of inspiration. It’s really easy to feel like you’re not really getting anywhere doing this. You’re constantly working your butt off and you wonder if you’ll ever reach the goals that you’ve set for yourself but the interaction with the readers always lights a fire under me and makes me realize that maybe I’m doing all right.   Q: When working on a manuscript, do you find it difficult to rein in ideas for other projects, or are you of a singular mind? A:I actually save my ideas in my phone and it helps me focus on the story I’m currently writing. Otherwise, it would drive me crazy.   Q: Does music influence you in your writing? Do you have a playlist?  A:Yes, it does a whole lot. I have different playlists for different things. If I need to write a particularly heavy emotional scene, I can’t exactly be listening to something light and upbeat.   Q: Do you have a Favorite snack while writing? A:I actually don’t like to eat while I write. It distracts me and my writing suffers.   Q: What did you expect when coming into the indie world? A:I don’t think I really knew what I was getting myself into and I certainly didn’t expect the insane amount of work it takes to become a success but I’ve learned a lot in the year since my first book released and I feel like I’m in a good spot. I still have goals that I would like to reach but I’m confident that if I keep pushing forward, I will accomplish them.   Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you need with you? A:Music, chocolate, books   Q: Favorite movie, music, sport or color? A:I have a pretty extensive movie collection and I don’t think I could pick just one and the same goes for music but my favorite color is purple. Q: Who's your Celebrity crush? A:Jensen Ackles *sigh*   Q:  If you Could Travel Anywhere In The World, Where Would It Be? A:There are so many places that I want to visit - England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Fiji, Greece   Q: What Was Your Dream Job Growing Up? A:I had a couple. First it was a veterinarian then it was an interior designer and finally a photographer.   Q: Favorite author and favorite book? A:This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas. I seriously love me some Jesse Ward <3   Q: One Superpower, What Would It Be And How Would You Use It? A:The power to read people’s minds and just because I’m nosey   Q: What do you like to do for fun? A:I still love to do photography and I love binge watching shows on netflix   Q: Favorite drink? Sweet tea    Q:Cake or pie? A:Cake
