BLH Chat and Spotlight with S.E. Hall

Today we talked with S.E. Hall!    Q- What's next for you?  What are you currently working on?  A-I am currently working JT’s book, the first of the Squad kids’ books   Q-How much of yourself do you write in a book?  Are any of the characters "you"?  A-Most of my books have myself poured into them, especially Unstable and Emerge. I am a lot like Henley and VERY MUCH like Laney, or a female version of Sawyer.    Q-How do you balance work, writing and family/friends without burning out?  A-I set sprinting times with author friends, I write late at night when kids are asleep and I set it aside if they need me.    Q-Do you read your reviews if so how do handle the negative ones written?  A-Sometimes, for a few days after release and then I usually stop. Most often, I just smile or laugh at the negative ones bc usually, they’re so far off of the storyline I wonder if they have the right book and/or they nit pick and well...can’t please ‘em all.    Q-Do you write full time ?  A-Yes   Q-Where does the inspiration for your stories come from?  A-Most often, real life events.    Q-What signings are you attending?  A-Little Rock Book Jam on Nov 12, 2016, Kinky in Kansas City March 4th, 2017 and Tulsa Hard Rock in Tulsa, OK on July 30th, 2017 so far.    Q- All writers have some sort of ritual for when they write. What is your ritual?  A-Fine tip Sharpie markers, notebook with a hard cardboard back, Dt. Dew and cigs right beside me, just me and my dog in garage.      Q- When working on a manuscript, do you find it difficult to rein in ideas for other projects, or are you of a singular mind? A- I’ve written up to 3 books at once, working on 2 simultaneously right now.    Q-Does music influence you in your writing? Do you have a playlist?  A-Yes and yes, a different one for every book. (Check spotify)   Q-Do you have a Favorite snack while writing?  A-Reese’s PB Cups  .  Q-Who inspired you to write?  A-My daughter Lyndsey, our Sky Sky we lost, my Aunt Elaine and my cousin Jason      Q-What did you expect when coming into the indie world? A- Not what I found LOL. I had NO IDEA the back work and how much time went into finding editors with slots, and sending arcs, and street teams and takeovers and keeping up every social media outlet page meant. But also, the love, messages and support I’d get- unbelievable and so appreciated!   Q-If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you need with you?  A-My husband (holding my cigs), my kids (holding my Dt Dew) and my female dog named Roscoe (holding some cheese)   Q- Favorite movie, music, sport or color?  A-The Shawshank Redemption, Pop/Hip-Hop, Fastpitch Softball, Hot Pink   Q-If any actor or actress could play you in a movie of your life, who would it be? And why? A- Tina Fey- only she could pull it all off with a straight face and the right amount of dry sarcasm    A- Who's your Celebrity crush?  A-Colton Haynes or Channing Tatum   Q-If you Could Live In A Book, Tv Show Or Movie, What Would It Be? A- Modern Family    Q-If You Could Live Forever, How Would You Spend Eternity?  A-Nope, no thank you   Q- If you Could Travel Anywhere In The World, Where Would It Be? A- Montana cabin    Q-What Book Has Influenced You Most? A- I’d say 50 Shades bc it started a boom that made me realize I could write if I really wanted to.    Q-What Was Your Dream Job Growing Up? A- Lawyer   Q- Favorite author and favorite book?  A-Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird   Q- One Superpower, What Would It Be And How Would You Use It? A- See the future, stop bad shit from happening   Q-What do you like to do for fun? A- Casino, Read, Watch Softball   Q- What's your guilty pleasure? A- I don’t feel guilty about any of my pleasures    Q- Favorite drink? A- Dt Mt Dew in a cold can   Q- Favorite candy bar?  A-Reese’s PB Cups  Thank you S.E. Hall for letting us get to know you a little better. It was so much fun seeing your answers. If you haven't checked out her or her books please do so. She's absolutely amazing!!!
